Microcomputer Design

During the SAREC Fellowship at the Institute of Technology, Uppsala University, Sweden (1984–1985), Professor Shishodia designed and fabricated a Texas Instruments TMS9900 (Texas 9995) based single-board microcomputer. The project was developed using wirewrap techniques, a common prototyping method before the widespread adoption of PCB manufacturing.

The system included a custom implementation of Texas BASIC, enabling interactive programming for physics experiments and data acquisition. This work also informed the later use of KIM-1, SIM-1, 6809, and 6502 microprocessors in the development of physics and electronics laboratories at the University of Rajasthan.

This project represents an early contribution to computer-aided physics education in India, predating the widespread availability of commercial microcomputers in academic settings.
