Biography

Professor Yadvendra Singh Shishodia is a professor of physics and currently serves as Advisor to the University of Technology, Jaipur. He has more than fifty years of experience in research and development in diverse fields such as solid state physics, nuclear, laser, plasma, electrical and mechanical engineering. His research spans diverse areas including:

  • Electron momentum distribution and Fermi surface studies of metals and semi-metals using two-photon annihilation of electron–positron systems
  • Positron lifetime studies in various solids
  • Hyperfine structure and measurement of nuclear moments of neutron-deficient thallium isotopes using focusing atomic beam magnetic resonance
  • Design of system for transport of 600 MeV proton beam of CERN synchrotron to ABMR machine
  • Use of KIM-1, SIM-1, 6809, 6502 microprocessors in development of physics and electronics labs
  • Design and fabrication of a Texas 9995-based single-board microcomputer and Texas BASIC using wirewrap techniques (at Institute of Technology, Uppsala University, 1984–85)
  • Surface inhomogeneities and characteristics of amorphous solar cells using laser scanning techniques
  • Fabrication of low-energy plasma focus machines for deuterium fusion and neutron emission; design and fabrication of a sequenced nitrogen laser for study of nano-second plasma focus
  • GIS applications for telecommunication networks
  • Power loss reduction in radial distribution electrical systems
  • Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid studies using the Sumudu transform technique
  • Cloud economics

Physics Education Work

Professor Shishodia has been active in the field of physics education since the early 1970s. Under the University Leadership and Centre for Development of Physics Education, he was actively involved in design, development and measurement of innovative experiments in mechanical, electrical and nuclear systems. Notable projects include:

  • Ultra low frequency oscillator
  • Lucite air track
  • Mechanical high Q pendulum systems
  • Novel technique using Lissajou’s figures for study of mechanical resonance

Computer Education & Curriculum Development

As Director of Computer Centre at the University of Rajasthan, Professor Shishodia initiated and sustained Certificate, Post-Graduate Diploma, MCA, MCA(Evening), M.Sc(IT) and B.Sc(Computer Science) courses at the University of Rajasthan and affiliated institutions. He also initiated the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the university. At Jagan Nath University, where he served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor, he guided research work in computer science, electrical, mechanical and cloud computing.
